After being encouraged to write my story, I have decided to start small. I have fought the idea of doing a blog for several years and for several reasons: I felt like it was a very “basic white girl” thing (like, hold my pumpkin spice latte, I have a selfie to take and a blog to write!), I didn’t have the time (this one was for real though), and I didn’t have the energy (thanks, chronic illness). But most of all, I didn’t want to have to go back and relive everything (I’ve already done that with my therapist!). But…

It’s 2024, I’m almost 40 years old, and, truth be told, I kind of am a basic white girl. Due to a recent job transition, I have more time so that’s no longer an excuse. God is doing some supernatural healing in my body, so I also have more energy. Now, I just have to have the courage to go back through the memories to see how much good God has done for me! So that’s the perspective I choose to take with this blog: to focus on what God has done in each and every situation.

There will be many different writing styles; as well as topics discussed. Topics like mental illness (gasp!), chronic physical illness, spiritual growth, singleness and marriage, autobiographical stories, etc. The writing isn’t super polished. This blog is mainly for me and my personal and spiritual growth. But if you’re reading this and choose to continue reading, I pray that you are encouraged and don’t feel quite so alone if you have struggled with some of the same stuff I have. God wants to work something new in all of us every day.

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19
